This walkthrough will guide you through the obstacles, enemies, and the final boss fight, ensuring you complete this chapter with ease.

Breaking Through

Upon leaving the gates of the Imperial Palace, the first challenge will appear in the form of two Elite Hellcaller Soul Burners and a variety of Soul Burners and Sin Eaters. These enemies are formidable, but you have a choice: either defeat them or bypass them entirely by running past. Once you've dealt with or evaded them, head west toward your next objective.

As you move forward, you’ll encounter several Mother’s Chosen and Fly Swarms, but these can be easily outrun without much hassle. However, at the bend, expect a tougher challenge: an Elite Chizorig Shadowtouch and several Skittering Abominations await. Keep moving north, and you’ll come across more enemies, including an Elite Fiery Pestilent Host, Plague Maggots, and additional Skittering Abominations. Proceed northward past the Plague Maggot Young, and you’ll face yet another tough adversary: the Elite Styhlez Boltcrawler.

Don't forget to stock up on health potions at the nearby Healing Well to prepare for what's ahead. The area will soon lead you into the final stage of the quest, where a boss fight looms.

The Boss Fight: Duriel, Lord of Pain

Upon entering the quest area, you’ll be surrounded by Plague Maggot Young. Quickly deal with them, as they are only a prelude to the battle with Duriel, the Lord of Pain. After a brief waiting period, Duriel will emerge from the ground with a series of deadly attacks. He has large frontal swipes with his legs, and the more powerful strikes will have clear telegraphing indicators. Your best defense here is to stay behind him to minimize the damage you take.

When he comes back above ground, there’s a brief window where you can deal significant damage, so be ready to capitalize on that moment.

Once Duriel has been defeated, the quest will come to an end, rewarding you with 35,569 XP and 3,010 Gold.
